Why you should definitely visit

You could be on the first tee at The Machrie Golf Links, a genuine championship links course, five minutes after landing — one of the quickest starts to a trip anywhere on Islay.

About

Islay's small regional airport sits at Glenegedale, five miles from Port Ellen, with Loganair running daily 40-minute flights to Glasgow (plus a once-weekly service on to Colonsay and Oban). It's a modest, single-terminal airport — no queues, no long walks. Car hire desks are on-site, so most visitors flying in are on the road within minutes of landing.

Highlights
  • Glasgow to Islay in around 40 minutes by air
  • Free parking, both short and long stay, a short walk from the terminal — no charges, no time limit
  • Two car hire desks in the terminal (Cresswell Cars, Islay Car Hire), so you can be driving within minutes of landing
  • Level access throughout the terminal — no steps anywhere, three accessible toilets, two public wheelchairs, and an Aviramp/stair climber for boarding
  • Loganair flies daily to Glasgow, with a once-weekly service on to Colonsay and Oban
